This is SUCH a great idea for a dinner party: it's dead easy, everyone makes their own bowl, you prepare everything in advance,  AND you please the GF, DF and V peeps along with the omnivores all in ONE meal.  Genius, actually.

It's so my kind of a meal, filled with varying textures and tastes, each bite a little bit different from the last.  This is merely a guideline as the possibilities are truly endless.  If you are not hot on quinoa, I suggest using forbidden rice for both the health benefits and the gorgeous color, especially if you are making the (very pink) pickled cabbage.

I could eat like this everyday but I suggest inviting some friends over to share.

grilled fish, pork, or chicken

cooked quinoa (I used red)

bean sprouts

sauted onions, potatoes, asparagus, kale (etc)

toasted pine nuts or roasted sesame seeds

pickled cabbage

cilantro dressing

your favorite hot sauce (I served sriracha, chipolte and chili lime Cholula)

for the cilantro dressing:

1 c olive oil

1/3 c rice vinegar

3 cloves garlic

1 larch bunch cilantro

2-3 T mirin

(alternatively, you could substitute basil for the cilantro)

Blend together all of the ingredients for the dressing.

Cook the quinoa and all of your "components"

Set out bowls, grilled meat or fish (or not), dressing, sauces, components and serve.
