By far and away, the easiest cranberry sauce you will ever make.  Unless, of course, you are slicing some weirdo jellied stuff from a can, then we truly have nothing left to say to each other.

I like the depth of flavor and the slight caramelization that the roasting brings with next to no work.  You can add some freshly grated ginger after it has cooked for a little kick of spice.  But no need.  It's kind of perfect just like this.

With a hint of maple and bourbon, it's pairs nicely with this turkey.  But don't keep cranberry sauce in Thanksgiving lock down; try it with any grilled or roasted poultry or pork.

1 lb fresh cranberries

1/3 c sugar

1/2 c maple syrup

juice of two oranges + zest

2 T bourbon

Preheat oven to 350º

Mix together all of the above ingredients in a rimmed baking sheet.  Roast until the cranberries soften and start to yield some juice, about 30 minutes.

You can make the sauce days ahead of time.  Bring to near room temperature to best taste all of the great flavors.
